I Love My Art Studio in Cygnet, Tasmania.
Welcome to my art studio, the place where I can let my creativity run wild and bring my oil landscapes to life. This space is more than just a room;...
I am an award winning professional artist working out of my studio/gallery in Cygnet, Southern Tasmania, ' Stanley's Studio/Gallery.'
I have owned and operated my gallery for 25 years and work with oil paint on stretched canvas and love to paint Tasmanian landscapes and seascapes.
I am inspired by the light in Tasmania, especially early morning and late afternoon when the colours are at their best.
I enjoy reflections in the water which is why many people comment how calm and peaceful my work is.
I also have a range of Fine Art Prints, both on Quality Paper and Limited Edition Canvas, that are produced from the original oil paintings.
Some of the originals are available on this website or from my art gallery in Cygnet and some from my represented gallery Art2Muse.
Original oil paintings of the Tasmanian landscape and seascape. My artworks are painted from all over Tasmania. Mostly from the beautiful Huon Valley, Bruny Island and the East Coast. All Canvases are handmade by me which are stretched on a timber frame.
The smaller Prints are signed and titled by the artist himself. They make for a perfect gift. Developed to exceed museum standards, this high quality photosatin paper offers exceptional beauty and character using the purest natural materials without chemical substances.
Bring some colourful wall art to your space with canvas prints. Canvas prints are a great way to add some life to any room. This form of artwork has soared in popularity over recent years. The quality of printing now is so advanced that it's hard to tell the difference from the original painting. Each canvas print can be printed to a custom size at your request and has a protective, transparent, UV coating.
Richard. I recently purchased your original oil painting, ' Huon Valley from Vince's Saddle.' I simply want to say it's beautiful and now hangs as my main piece of artwork in my living room.
Thank you for creating it. Best wishes, Andrew Wilkie MP
Hi Richard,
I just wanted to let you know how much I love and enjoy your painting of Ebbie and I at the beach. I hope you weren’t disappointed by my immediate response when I first saw it; I’m not really much given to public displays of emotion, but I truly think it is a lovely, lovely thing which I treasure.
The Tasmanian environment is a rare untouched jewel in a world being ransacked by humanity and you have a rare gift of capturing its beauty and tranquility, in both painting technique and an eye for its most rapturous moments. Many of my happiest days have been spent with animal friends in places such as you paint, and being able to visit them at any time without leaving home is a joy. I can also revisit the times I spent with a great friend. Paintings such as this help us transcend mortality. Although those who know Ebbie and I would recognise us, the painting retains its power for those who don’t on a more anonymous man-and-dog-at-beach level, and I am confident our family will prize and care for it long after I am gone.
I am indebted to you and Helen for this, so thank you very much.
With kindest regards,
Our wall is now a beautiful reminder of our trip to paradise. Oh my heart. Overflowing. Your paintings are just beautiful. Thank you also for the print. It's one of my favourites too. And your shipping as usual is superb !!!!!
Former Tasmanian Premier and Minister for the Arts.
I enjoyed meeting you at the Huon Art Exhibitions Group shows and have admired your work.
Best wishes for your continued success.
My husband and I bought your painting last year. We had previously seen your painting with the boys playing cricket on the beach, and fell in love with it. We had 2 grandsons (3 now) and could imagine them playing cricket on the beach (we will be content with a print) We would've loved the original of that too but couldn't afford it at the time.
It was purely chance we were in the gallery at the time! The painting is absolutely amazing how it changes in different lights. We have it on a west facing wall and it is magical! Our 2 year old grandson stands at the back of the Sofa and is mesmerised by it.
He thinks it is 'poppy' on the beach. Thank you so much for this pleasure.
Ps I love that new work on your website I want that too!
Hi Richard,We're so pleased with the painting - it has been admired greatly by many visitors (including Bob Brown and Paul T the other day!). Regards, Seb
